2012 VCDA Drum Majors, Drummers and Pipers Challenge

The Ventura County Dart Association would like to invite members of the groups / bands participating in the Drumming and Piping Competitions to join us in a New Darts Competition we are calling the “Drummers and Pipers Darts Challenge.” The competition is open to members of the groups in the competitions, including friends and support persons. The competition will be Doubles Teams with each band (group) being allowed two teams. Each team will be allowed to make three (3) attempts to set a low score at game of 301 during the weekend. The 2 teams with the lowest number of darts to finish a game of 301 will qualify for final. The Final will be a playoff of top two teams; tiebreakers will be arranged if needed.  We will try to arrange the time of the finals to fit with the schedule of the competitors. Don’t worry if you are not a dart player, we will give pointers and allow practice time.

We are currently considering Sunday morning before band events, or Sunday afternoon after the last band competition and before the awards ceremonies to hold the finals of this event.

How it works:

Teams will register with Challenge Staff in the Dart Hall (Santa Cruz Hall).

Each team will have two players & each Band (group) will be allowed two teams in the Challenge.

Each team will be allowed to make 3 attempts to set a low score during the weekend; subsequent attempts will end when a prior low score is exceeded.

The game being played is 301 straight start and "No Bust" Double Off (any double greater than or equal to the remaining score will end the round).

An attempt will be a doubles team shooting with a "Challenge Official" present during the attempt.

The 2 teams with the lowest number of darts to finish a game of 301 will qualify for final.

The Final will be a playoff of top 2 teams (the top 4 teams should come to the final to be available if one of the top two teams cannot compete).

1st and 2nd place teams will receive trophies to commemorate their victory / accomplishment, and will be published in the on the vcda.org website and in the GCS-VI Tourney Program and Highland Games Program for 2013.
