Letters from Our President

Dear Tournament Attendees,

I would like to thank each and every one of you who attended Gold Coast Shootout I. I thank you all for your patience in rolling with the glitches, and your willingness to step up when chalkers were needed. You all served to make this event a lot of fun for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing you all again next year for Gold Coast Shootout II, October 10 and 11, 2009!

Again, thanks for participating.

Diana Needham

President

Ventura County Darts Association

Dear Tournament, Volunteers Helpers and Supporters,

I would personally like to thank the following people who gave of their time to make Gold Coast Shootout I a success. Hopefully, I have not forgotten anyone: Dave Allen, Aaron and Tony Arnold, Jay Carson, Joey Burt, Bob and Rosie Cobb, Mick Farrell, Terry and Sarah Fitch, Larry Gee, Denny and Sue Gosser, David Hoag, Nancy Johnson, Jan Kidd, Matt Lowes, Simon McDade, Randy Nordin, Phil O'Neil, Doug Peterson Jo-Ellen Poston, Clem Watts and Randy Wheeler; and last but not least, the inimitable Gosser brothers, Joe and Bryan. Whether you helped with building, setup, artwork, the Win and iPod shoot, break-down, providing dart supplies, or just plain moral support and advice, we could not have accomplished this event without each and every one of you.

Again my heartfelt thanks for your assistance.

Diana Needham

President

Ventura County Dart Association

Seaside Scottish Highland Games! The VCDA
"Ipod Nano" give away - 2008 write up!

Two days and 228 entries later... The results were very similar to the 2007 iPod Give Away. We had many entrants anxious to have a try at winning the iPod, but some had to be pushed to enter by Spouse, Family or Friends, and ended up scoring better than they thought they would.
Early Saturday morning the high score 96 was set by Tucker Bruce. That score held up all day Saturday.

Early on in the day Sunday a throw of 104 was scored by Curt Tolnie, but that score would not hold as minutes later Robert Conlee posted a score of 112.

Robert's score look to be the winner until the end of the day, just before the booth was to be closed, when Larry and Betsy Daugherty walked up to the booth. Much like last year Larry was a willing participant, but Betsy needed a fair amount of coaxing to give it a try. With more constants waiting to have a go at it Betsy tossed a 117 (triple 16, Double Bulleye 50, single 19). Her score held up to win the iPod despite the efforts of three more contestants.

Thanks to all who participated, and remember that we will be having another Darts Tournament, and Give Away at the 2009 Seaside Highland Games. So break out your darts and dartboards and play darts.

"Ipod Nano" give away - 2007 write up!

After two days the total number of entries was 216. There were many great shots, particularly late Sunday afternoon, we had several 90+ attempts, but in the end it was the last entry of the event that made the winning Ton 24 (124) throw. Monica (Our Winner!), At the urging of her husband, entered the event and threw a triple 17, triple 19, single 16 to win the Ipod.
