Well the VCDA has finally rejoined the ADO and it is time to start representing
our league in regional events. For those of you that do not know, the qualifier
rounds are an opportunity for players to compete against some of the best players
in the country. I know many of you may think "that endeavor is a waste of time, I
am not good enough to play with those guys or gals", well I do not believe that is true, I
believe that maybe for the time being we will have a hard time competing, but
that is only because we are new to this level of competition. We have many
exceptional players in the VCDA and I believe that none of us are limited in our
abilities, only our choices to step up to the plate against the big dogs and say bring
it on. I frequently spend my free time roaming other league dart sites (Pathetic, I
know) looking for trophy rounds to compare against our own, and I encourage
any one to do the same you will learn as I have that the VCDA is fully capable of
competing in these kind of events. So here it is your chance to step up and bring
your darts, the VCDA darts and darts in general on the west coast of the United
States to a higher level.
This is going to force a couple of changes;
Change # 1 Qualifier rounds will be
more serious tournaments, we can still have fun, but the emphasis is going to be
on competition not goofing around.
Change # 2 I will be running these
tournaments by the letter of the law, not my usual relaxed attitude, there may
come a time when I have to disqualify someone for poor behavior, or not allow an
entry due to tardiness, these steps are likely not to occur, but in the event they do,
please do not take it personally.
I would like to send multiple players to the regional qualifier tournaments and to
do so I will be planning multiple qualifiers in the near future. I cannot say this
enough please pay attention to the VCDA league website it will have the
information you need to find these tournaments. The league pays for this
website and uses it to post information about all league activities if you do not
have this website set as your home page, or somehow earmarked for easy access
you are only depriving yourself of vital league information. Waiting for someone
from the league to call you and tell you about
these events will only end in you missing events you may have wanted to play in.
Thank you,
Bryan
Hello everyone!
Just wanted to forward on the results from this past weekend for our regional playoffs for the US Team. I would like to sincerely thank the GSDDA members and everything they are doing to support darts in Southern California. We had 11 men this time and 7 of them were from GSDDA! Thanks guys! GSDDA has truly become the backbone of support in this region and your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated!
As I said, we had 11 men compete on Saturday and it was a long day of darts. For those that do not know me well....I really dislike the concept of breaking up a large group into 2 or more groups. I really dislike the "luck of the draw"! I will give you a "for instance" on why I do not break things up into 2 or more groups to play. I recently went to Houston to compete in the National playoffs for the World Masters. There were 28 women and they broke us up into 4 groups of 7. So, I went and drew my card....and I will share with you just who all was in my group. Stacy Bromberg, Carolyn Mars, Brenda Roush, Linda Anglin, Pamela Patton and Cindy Gaskin. So my "luck of the draw" puts me in a group with 3 of the top 4 women players in this country....and Linda, Pamela and Cindy are nothing to sneeze at either! And this is exactly why I dislike the "luck of the draw".
So, out of 30 possible legs won, this is how the men's event ended:
- John Kramer-(The Dart Shop)-26 legs won
- Charles Bradish-(GSDDA)-18 legs won
- Steve Lawson-(PDA)-17 legs won (tie-breaker win)
- Doug McDonough-(GSDDA)-17 legs won
- Marvin Wentz-(GSDDA)-16 legs won
- Curtis Pierpont-(SCDA)-16 legs won
- Mark Pundt-(GSDDA)-13 legs won
- Dan Jager-(GSDDA)-13 legs won
- Mark Veatch-(GSDDA)-10 legs won
- JD Newman-(GSDDA)-10 legs won
- Mick Farrell-(VCDA)-9 legs won
Our ladies event was held on Sunday. The results in a moment, but again a HUGE! thank you extended to the men from all of the ladies involved for letting the extra money collected forwarded on to the ladies event, so we are finally able to send one man and one lady to the national playoffs fully paid without having to have any fundraisers. Props to the men for helping out the ladies!
The results for the ladies were as follows:
- Anne Kramer -(Triple Crown Productions)-11 legs won
- Jennifer Polefko-(The Dart Shop)-6 legs won (tie-breaker win)
- Deb Pundt-(GSDDA)-6 legs won
- Christa DeBoer-(The Dart Shop)-4 legs won
- Joyce Bleak-(PDA)-3 legs won
And extra thanks to Lori at the Dolphin Lounge for hosting both events and making us all feel welcome.
The winners of both events will now go on to compete in the national playoff in October in Austin for the US Team, which will be for the World Cup team that will compete in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009.
And now it is time for the cricket qualifiers to begin! Leagues and associations, please begin your qualifiers and lets see if we can get enough players qualified to be able to send 2 men and 2 ladies to Vegas to compete in the Cricket Nationals in January 2009!
Thanks again everyone for your support! Webmasters, please post on websites!
With regards,
Anne Kramer
